Booker T Washington names interim head football coach
TULSA – Booker T. Washington High School has named Defensive Coordinator Tim Robison as the acting head coach of the Hornets football team following an investigation involving head coach Dan Bitson, Tulsa Public Schools confirmed.
The school district released a statement on the situation, explaining that Bitson has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing.
“On February 14, Tulsa Public Schools confirmed the initiation of an investigation at one of our high schools. As is the standard process within our school district, during the course of an investigation, staff may be placed on administrative leave pursuant to personnel policies,” the district said.
Despite the uncertainty, the district emphasized that football operations will continue under Robison’s leadership and that additional school officials will assist in handling football-related matters.
“Our commitment to students and families dictates that, regardless of an investigation status, a current point of contact for all critical school-related matters will be designated and available at all times to best serve our community. Please contact Coach Tim Robison, acting head football coach, as the point of contact for all football activities at this time. (Booker T. Washington) athletic director John Potocnik and assistant principal Matt Myers can also assist with football-related matters,” the statement read.
Under Bitson’s leadership, Booker T. Washington posted an impressive 10-3 record last season, including a perfect 6-0 mark in district play. The Hornets advanced to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs, where they were eliminated by the Guthrie Blue Jays.
With the offseason already underway, Robison will now step in to guide the program as the Hornets prepare for the 2025 football season.
